The Vantec SSDHDD Aluminum Caddy is a physical hardware adapter that allows the use of standard 2.5 inch SATA hard drives in your optical drive port. Customers have found the product to be easy to install and works as described with good performance. Customers have also been able to reuse the old drive’s face cover. However, it is recommended to check the specifications of your laptop before buying to ensure that the optical drive is a SATA 3 interface, otherwise, the drive will throttle down to a slower speed. The caddy fits in a range of laptop models including Asus and MSI. Some customers have expressed uncertainty with regards to the 4 channel switch and the kit does not come with a screwdriver.
