Answer: The more traditional way to remove unwanted power in a certain direction is to use a circulator or directional coupler. There may be some reverse leakage, but it is often tolerable. The attenuator is not specifically designed for isolating the rx signal. -

Answer: There is no indication that the attenuator is directional with respect to power flow. Traditionally, the male end is used for the input, and the female end is used for the attenuated signal output. -
