    Answer: It measures 10 inches wide by 5-1/4 inches deep.
  • Question: Does this have a belt loop?

    Answer: I Don't have one of these, but as a Saddle Maker and a horse back packer I have made essentially this same thing to safely carry an axe on my pack horse. To anchor the sheath to the pack saddle yet allow the axe to be quickly and easily available I simply make two parallel cuts a few inches apart and on the same plane as the handle on the backside of the sheath so that I can insert a rope or strap to hold it onto the pack while tucking the long handle of the axe under the lashing rope that's used to lash down the manty, (the outer canvas cover) to keep it from flopping around. When I need the axe it's a simple matter to open the snaps of the sheath and pull the axe out leaving the sheath on the pack and to put it back on just slide it back in being sure to tuck the handle under some rope again.Hope this helps.

    Answer: If you’re referring to the Estwing black eagle throwing axe then yes, there is more than enough room both length and height wise. I believe the estwing is 7.5-8 inches across and 2.5–3 inches high so it will be loose in the scabbard but would work
  • Question: I have a Collins that measures 9 7/8w x 4 1/4h. Is the height gonna be too tall for my axe?

    Answer: The dimensions of the sheath are 11w x 6h. It fits my axe perfectly, I'm not sure about how loose it will be on yours.
  • Question: Anyone try to fit this on a sledge hammer or a sledge axe?

    Answer: Wrap axe to increase size...soak leather to soften...insert axe...allow to dry...snug fit...maul or hammers no.
  • Question: I have a Woodings-Verona that is 4-7/8 x 10-3/8. Will that distance exceed the inside rivet-to-rivet distance?

    Answer: My 5” by 10” ax fits with plenty of extra room, so your extra 3/8” shouldn’t be a problem.
  • Question: How big is the opening for the handle? I am returning another sheath that could not accommodate a 3' hilt. I have a vintage no-brand 8.5' x 4' head.

    Answer: I use it for various axes but am currently using it with one almost 3 3/8 wide. Its a really nice snug fit but would loosen up over time. I actually prefer the wider so it doesnt rattle.

    Answer: I believe this style is made in a smaller size, I’ve seen them for the smaller double bit Norlunds many times.
  • Question: What is the size of the opening? 10 inches is the width of the entire sheath.

    Answer: The opening on mine is right at 10 inches...which is perfect for the 9 3/4 inch bit to bit dimension of my double bit ax.
