The South Shore Step One bed is a platform style bed that comes in various sizes. The platform has a top board that covers the bed and the mattress goes on top of it. Some customers have reported that the mattress may slip a little bit, and there is no side support for box springs or a mattress. The bed can be assembled easily with a hammer, a flat screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver, but some customers have reported that holes don't align properly and new holes need to be drilled for it to all fit together. Unfortunately, there have been several complaints about the quality of the materials, construction, and packaging of the bed. Customers reported that their bed arrived damaged, with missing screws, and some pieces had defects, cracks or were different colors. There have also been concerns about the structural integrity of the bed, and one customer reported that it broke within the first day of use.
